On the 7th of October 2022 at the IMRO Awards in Kilkenny, Blue Yard’s CEO, Mandy Johnston picked up gold for the Gay Byrne award for Best Newcomer. Mandy has been hosting Taking Stock on Newstalk since October 2021. Taking Stock with Mandy Johnston takes a global view of the big business stories and the trends affecting the world economy. Each episode features experts on the big issues facing economies and societies across the world and the direction of the future economy.

In April 2023, Mandy was outside the Áras an Uachtaráin to cover President Biden’s meeting with President Michael D Higgins. President Biden stopped to speak to the waiting media, where her Newstalk colleague asked him for a selfie. This photo was posted on social media, where Mandy can be seen with the President.

On Tuesday, 13th of February 2024, the Irish University Associations held their Future of Ireland event, in the Alex Hotel ‘Why Universities Matter for Foreign Direct Investment’. Mandy Johnston hosted the event with impactful discussions with Michael Lohan CEO of IDA Ireland, Professor David FitzPatrick, President of Technological University Dublin and Michael Beary former Country Manager Ireland for Amazon Web Services.

Mandy Johnston, the Director of Blue Yard Ltd., has over twenty years of operating at the highest levels of Irish Government and the Irish media. She has previously held senior positions at the highest levels of Government, politics, business and the media in Ireland.
Mandy was first female and youngest appointee by the Irish Government to the position of Government Press Secretary – appointed in 2002 she served for five years, prior to that she was Press Director at the Department of Finance where she also served for five years.
In 2007, Mandy was appointed Special Adviser at the Department of Taoiseach with special responsibility for Northern Ireland Affairs during the establishment of the Northern Ireland Assembly.
Mandy has been Director of Communications in three successive and successful Irish General Election Campaigns and has also served as the Director of Communications for Dublin City University (DCU).
She is also a writer and frequent political columnist for the Irish Independent, Ireland’s largest selling newspaper since 2013, covering domestic and international politics including travelling to the US to cover the campaign in 2016.
Most recently, Mandy held the role of CEO in the Irish Offshore Operators’ Association (IOOA) representing indigenous and multinational companies who are licensed to operate offshore in Ireland.
Alice O’Byrne, is Blue Yards’ Account Executive. She has experience in the national education representative body, ASTI and Dublin City University in media and communications.
Also, Alice has years of experience working in the energy sector, including SSE Airticity, Energia and the Irish Offshore Operators’ Association.
Alice will provide full support to clients’ internal teams in the implementation of the agreed strategies through a full range of highly-tailored communications services. She will monitor and provide regular updates on key political, media and economic developments to senior executives.
